Rescue Me ID: 16-05-12-00307Buddy (male)

Pointer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Buddy is a special dog. He is friendly, loving, he loves to snuggle, cuddle and will burrow his head into you. He gets along well with other dogs and kids. He is a bit wary of men, but absolutely adores women. Having said that, Buddy does have a few quirks. He is a velcro dog - he attaches to that one special person and follows her around. When 'his' person gets home, he will shower her with love and lots of kisses. Giving him at least a full minute of undivided attention is a must - he needs to know you are happy to see him and feel your touch before he settles down. He would like nothing better than to sleep in your bed. Take him for a ... (Read More)walk and you'll make his day. He is very energetic and needs some play/exercise time. Afterwards, when he has tired himself out, he will fall asleep at your feet. After observing him in a foster home, we've decided that he would do better in a small household, preferably with women. Even though he gets along with other dogs, some male dogs don't seem to care for him. Maybe because Buddy is such a friendly boy he doesn't quite understand that some other dogs have boundaries and when he oversteps these 'boundaries', dogs will growl at him. He, however, is not the one who initiates it. Buddy does very well on playdates, but is a bit overwhelming to other dogs if he spends too much time with them. He has met two cats and has done well - sniffed them curiously and shown no adverse reaction. If there were to be children in his future family, we request that they be older kids, preferably over 10 years old. He does very well with toddlers - we've had a 3-year-old take a tennis ball out of his mouth over and over again and not once did Buddy growl or bark. We think kids should be older because Buddy is high-energy and will probably knock down young kids, albeit, inadvertently - he's just too excited to get attention and loves to play. He is in desperate need of either an adopter or at least a foster home. His present foster cannot keep him much longer. Since Buddy does not much care to be crated for long periods, we prefer someone who spends most of her time at home. Someone who works from home and has no other dogs would be the ideal fit for Buddy. Please give this wonderful furball a chance. He is one of our volunteer's favorite dogs and deserves such a loving home where he'll feel secure and can finally settle in. Stats: we estimate Buddy to be 1 or 2 years old, a pointer mix, who is neutered, up-to-date on all his shots and microchipped. He is very food motivated, extremely intelligent (he picks up on things quickly) and very trainable. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 13-07-17-00104Tide (male)

Pointer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Are you an athletic person who loves a nice solid outgoing dog? Tide is a very handsome boy, weighs about 70 pounds, about 1 year old, heartworm negative and current on all shots and health care. He is a very solid, fun loving, energetic dog who can wear out any dog here playing, except a pit mix we had who is also higher energy. At the same time when crated he is perfectly well behaved, quiet and calm. He loves to sniff about and seems to have potential for a search and rescue dog or something to use his skills to advantage. Plus he is a very confident dog and loves to hop in the car, or go anywhere you want to go which would be perfect for ... (Read More)a working dog. He is crate trained, never potties in the crate or kennel. He was rescued from a very high kill shelter in AL, where many dogs never make it out. I seen his face and just didnt want him cut short when hes still a pup with SO much potential! He will need exercise to be a good dog, either playing with another dog (med or large he loves to rough house with them!) or jogging, agility, tagging along a bike. This dog is athletic and needs an active family, no couch potatoe here (although after play time I am sure he would love couch time!!) He knows sit and he loves attention. His favorite thing other then playing is to flop over on his back so you can rub his belly! He wants to meet anyone who has visited and so many people have been very impressed with how handsome he is, but they were wanting a small dog. I havent worked with him much at all but he does learn fast! Please email for more photos he is solid built and acts very much like a lab! Contract and vet reference required to adopt. A friend has sponsored half of his adoption fee of $200. to help him find a great forever home! (Less)

Once a Pointer has cornered its game, it will freeze in place to point out its quarry. The modern Pointer is a mixture of several breeds including Foxhounds, Greyhounds, and Bulldogs. Earlier Pointers became popular in England in the seventeenth century. Pointers enjoy lounging around on upholstered furniture.
