Rescue Me ID: 16-06-29-00781Dot (female)
Dot desperately needs a foster or adopter very soon or she will be KILLED at a high kill shelter in Chicago. Dot is a very sweet and affectionate dog who is one or two years old. She likes to play fetch and sits on command. She is good on a leash and she has no issues with handling! She lets you pet her all over and even hug her! Please consider saving her life! Fostering is free of charge. Volunteers are willing to help with transport.
Rescue Me ID: 16-06-29-00301Nova (female)
Watch out, there's a super Nova bursting at ACl! This gorgeous 11 month old pittie mix is such a stunner - her white coat and grey bandit mask are sure to have heads turning whenever you take her for a walk! Nova arrived at ACL as a stray, and her owners neglected to come get her again. Their loss is our gain - Nova is wonderful. She's gentle, sweet, and dying for human companionship. She needs a bit of training to get her over the puppy hump - she still gets excited and jumpy like any puppy does. With regular exercise and attention, though, she settles right down. Nova is good with other dogs, and she'd really thrive in an environment with a more experienced pooch to lead her through life. She's been a great sidekick to other playful, confident pups here, and we think her best home fit has another dog to bond with. Because of her size and energy level, Nova is good with dog-savvy kids of any ages, but no cats, please. Nova is partially to fully deaf - she is extremely responsive to gestures and facial expressions, and she'll need minimal extra training to help her adapt to her disability in a home. ACL would be happy to provide adopters with more information about working with dogs with hearing restrictions. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-06-11-00149Emma (female)
DOB 5/4/14 About 40 lbs Emma is ready to find her forever home! According to her foster mom, she is pretty laid back and loves cuddles, kisses and belly rubs. Everyone who meets her says how sweet she is, with good manners. She loves people, even strangers. She will do best in a home with another low energy dog, or as an only child. A fenced in yard would be a plus, since she loves to run and play outside. Being left alone for a few hours loose in the house, has not been an issue and she does fine. Since she appears shy and cautious initially, she will need additional introductions to the sights and sounds of the outside world. Once some of these fears are reduced, she should learn to walk well on a leash. If you think Emma is the dog for you, please visit our website at www.alwaysroom4morepaws.com to review the adoption process and complete an application. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-05-12-00307Buddy (male)
Buddy is a special dog. He is friendly, loving, he loves to snuggle, cuddle and will burrow his head into you. He gets along well with other dogs and kids. He is a bit wary of men, but absolutely adores women. Having said that, Buddy does have a few quirks. He is a velcro dog - he attaches to that one special person and follows her around. When 'his' person gets home, he will shower her with love and lots of kisses. Giving him at least a full minute of undivided attention is a must - he needs to know you are happy to see him and feel your touch before he settles down. He would like nothing better than to sleep in your bed. Take him for a walk and you'll make his day. He is very energetic and needs some play/exercise time. Afterwards, when he has tired himself out, he will fall asleep at your feet. After observing him in a foster home, we've decided that he would do better in a small household, preferably with women. Even though he gets along with other dogs, some male dogs don't seem to care for him. Maybe because Buddy is such a friendly boy he doesn't quite understand that some other dogs have boundaries and when he oversteps these 'boundaries', dogs will growl at him. He, however, is not the one who initiates it. Buddy does very well on playdates, but is a bit overwhelming to other dogs if he spends too much time with them. He has met two cats and has done well - sniffed them curiously and shown no adverse reaction. If there were to be children in his future family, we request that they be older kids, preferably over 10 years old. He does very well with toddlers - we've had a 3-year-old take a tennis ball out of his mouth over and over again and not once did Buddy growl or bark. We think kids should be older because Buddy is high-energy and will probably knock down young kids, albeit, inadvertently - he's just too excited to get attention and loves to play. He is in desperate need of either an adopter or at least a foster home. His present foster cannot keep him much longer. Since Buddy does not much care to be crated for long periods, we prefer someone who spends most of her time at home. Someone who works from home and has no other dogs would be the ideal fit for Buddy. Please give this wonderful furball a chance. He is one of our volunteer's favorite dogs and deserves such a loving home where he'll feel secure and can finally settle in. Stats: we estimate Buddy to be 1 or 2 years old, a pointer mix, who is neutered, up-to-date on all his shots and microchipped. He is very food motivated, extremely intelligent (he picks up on things quickly) and very trainable. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-04-15-00480Moseley (male)
This young boy, Moseley, is very energetic and sweet. He is a beautiful white and black pointer/hound mix (our best guess). He's looking for the perfect family who can give him a safe and loving home. He came to us from Georgia and is up-to-date on shots. He will be neutered and microchipped soon. We estimate him to be just over a year old. Moseley is heartworm positive, but will begin his treatment immediately. Heartworm is very curable. Any questions or concerns, please contact us.

Rescue Me ID: 13-07-17-00104Tide (male)
Are you an athletic person who loves a nice solid outgoing dog? Tide is a very handsome boy, weighs about 70 pounds, about 1 year old, heartworm negative and current on all shots and health care. He is a very solid, fun loving, energetic dog who can wear out any dog here playing, except a pit mix we had who is also higher energy. At the same time when crated he is perfectly well behaved, quiet and calm. He loves to sniff about and seems to have potential for a search and rescue dog or something to use his skills to advantage. Plus he is a very confident dog and loves to hop in the car, or go anywhere you want to go which would be perfect for a working dog. He is crate trained, never potties in the crate or kennel. He was rescued from a very high kill shelter in AL, where many dogs never make it out. I seen his face and just didnt want him cut short when hes still a pup with SO much potential! He will need exercise to be a good dog, either playing with another dog (med or large he loves to rough house with them!) or jogging, agility, tagging along a bike. This dog is athletic and needs an active family, no couch potatoe here (although after play time I am sure he would love couch time!!) He knows sit and he loves attention. His favorite thing other then playing is to flop over on his back so you can rub his belly! He wants to meet anyone who has visited and so many people have been very impressed with how handsome he is, but they were wanting a small dog. I havent worked with him much at all but he does learn fast! Please email for more photos he is solid built and acts very much like a lab! Contract and vet reference required to adopt. A friend has sponsored half of his adoption fee of $200. to help him find a great forever home! (Less)

Pointer Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. The English Pointer is a proud, elegant hunting dog. Pointers are good with children and devoted to their families. Pointers need to be with people and need to be socialized as puppies. Some Pointers can be skittish or aloof. Pointers need plenty of exercise and activity to be happy and healthy. This breed is best for a home with lots of open land.
